It’s pretty easy to constantly feel like we need to do better. Human nature means craving perfection, and often reverting to comparison of others. And even though this is degrading and makes us feel somewhat inadequate, we keep trying to live up to some unobtainable and unrealistic standard.
It’s an everyday struggle to feel comfortable in our own skin, and it’s because of toxic thoughts we are fed through magazines, television shows, and ads. We are told the lie that we must be skinny, have a flawless complexion, and hair that is perfectly styled and bouncy at all times. With standards like that it's easy to get down on yourself.
I’m not gonna lie and say that anything you can do will change that. I personally stand on both sides of the spectrum. I can see that people want to always be improving, and that includes their physical features, but I also know being comfortable enough to own your body and soul is difficult, but, overall utterly amazing. Find a healthy mindset, workout because you want better for your body not because you envy someone else’s.
Luckily as we move forward the world of modeling and acting is growing more diverse everyday, we see bigger women rocking lingerie, more and more LGBTQ representation in television shows and movies. And even as humans evolve and become more accepting, it can still be a struggle.
You as a person...
Aren’t always gonna feel skinny
You’re not always gonna feel beautiful.
You’re not always gonna have flawless skin.
You’re sometimes gonna feel like you stand out.
You don’t...you’re just like everyone else.
And as we’ve all heard it before, you are so perfectly you. And for the people that can walk around everyday with the confidence to own their entire self, I applaud you. It’s not easy to go against human nature. But for those of you who struggle, I want you to love your features. Work everyday to recognize at least one thing that you love about your self.
It’s okay if it’s a little bit hard at first. Just look in the mirror. Look at the curvature of your chin, the fullness of your lips, you're cute as a button nose, or your dazzling eyes. It’s all uniquely you, it’s perfect, and screw anyone who has ever told you differently. It’s beautiful, and it’s all yours.
To all of you who hate your thighs, or your stomach, or the dark circles under your eyes. STOP...stop trying to change the one thing that will always be there for you. Your body is an amazing thing. It works really hard to keep you alive. Give it some respect.
“Stop trying to fix your body, It was never broken in the first place.” -Eve Ensler
Incase you needed a reminder, you’re beautiful/ handsome inside and definitely out.
Love, Molly
