A positive thought during COVID 19

I’m sure that many of us can agree that the past few weeks have been less than ideal. Activities have been canceled and friends haven’t been seen for a few weeks. I wanna start by saying that however you are feeling in the present moment...it’s okay. Whether you feel scared, confused, maybe even a little lost, it’s okay. I know that I have been feeling really unsure of everything, my health, my progress, all of it. And today I wanted to reach out to others and say, I understand exactly how you are feeling.

Since the outbreak of COVID 19 my world has become a domino effect. One thing after the other has come crashing down. And the struggle to not feel angry or belligerent towards the circumstances has become more difficult the longer I sit and wait. Recently I was asked to start keeping a journal about my feelings towards the events of today, it’s been really hard. Really hard in the sense of writing down how I’ve been feeling. Sometimes my entries are sadder and the words seem to drip off the page, and other times they sound infuriated and aggressive. Either way whatever I write, feel, and say, it’s healthy.

All this free time has also given me a drive to move forward. Some of you might be feeling like complete couch potatoes during this time, or others are spending the day exercising and cleaning. Either way, it’s okay to cope this way, but not stay this way. I suddenly felt like more than ever the world needs to come together and spread love to each other.

I wanted to share a few ways that I’ve been coping with this virus outbreak and hopefully at least one of these activities will spark an interest with you.

-Spreading joy to the community: Working to help people who could use a pick me up during this hard time
-Journaling: Let out whatever you are feeling. Don’t judge your emotions, they are all perfectly normal
-Exercising: Stop feeling bad about yourself, start working on the physical side of your health
-Painting: You DO NOT need to be an artist to express yourself and give yourself a mental break
-Reading: Immerse yourself in something that is a distraction from reality
-Take time to think about what’s important: Something I’ve spent a lot of this break thinking about...

Figure out what’s important to you-

Sometimes when you are crazy busy it’s hard to appreciate the blessings in life. Simple things like seeing your friends, making trips to the mall, going on hikes or bike rides. Figuring out what is important in your life again is how you’re gonna get through this. Think about what you can do for others with this free time, make gifts for friends, show your appreciation for the people you love. Most of all, don’t be afraid to admit you need help, the people you love will always be here for you.

I’m gonna leave you with the positive quote of the week-

You must tell yourself, “No matter how hard it is, or how hard it gets, I’m going to make it.”
                                                                                                                                        -Les Brown
Because I promise you are gonna come out of this tunnel stronger and better than before :)
